Food Tasting @ Eastin Hotel PJ

After a fulfilling night of food tasting at Prince Hotel, the next day, we went to Eastin Hotel PJ for a food tasting of their Christmas menu. Thanks to Cik Nur for the invite.

Gingerbread house, Santa Claus, Ginger Bread, Merry Christmas!!

Gambar with the management - General Manager, Executive Chef & Restaurant Manager (very friendly people!)

Then .. the main course starts..

Salmon Carparccio as appetizer.. thinly sliced, just nice as a starter.

Traditional Turkey with Stuffing - I prefer Chicken meat and I don't like cranberry sauce. Somehow weird for my taste.. BUT as the chef explains, thats what makes Christmas special! You can't eat it everyday.

Special Boston Oyster & Leak Bisque Soup - Have you ever tried Oyster Soup? I love this soup. Creamy, and rich with oyster. Addictive! :)

The final would be assorted cookies and pudding..

Turkey the Celebrity. Coz many ppl snaps photos of this turkey just like a superstar.. like paparazzi to.. hmm.. britney..

Nowadays food are treated just like superstars.. especially when a dine out with food bloggers.. all camera ready even before the dish served.. yeap, i'm one of them too.. Snap first, eat later!

Food Tasting @ Prince Hotel KL

Its been sometime since the last post! Blame it to my work. Went to a few food tasting / reviews.. and.. from now on, will post about it one by one..

Continue from the previous post, after we left Alice's book launching event, we went to Prince Hotel KL for a food tasting for media & bloggers.

I met their marketing, Ms.Jamie Leong who is kind to guide me throughout the event plus explain on the specialty that night.. They setup few kiosks for each restaurant in the hall...

Rendang - very rich in flavour...

Turkey and 2 gloomy chefs - preparing the stuffed turkey dish

Master chef from Enju - preparing handrolled temaki, IMHO, its one of the best i ever tried. Everything is fresh, and the seaweed is just crispy and excellent; definitely will back for more!

It's funny that he keep reminding people to eat it quickly everytime he handed over a temaki .. the reason? yeah, so the seaweed nori won't lose the crispness as it absorbs moisture from the rice and fillings.. sweet.

There's 1 part where the helper took the plate to refill the food, and someone walked past, saw the little crabs in a small cup which supposedly is a holder/display and thought it is edible, and took the small crab and have a bite.. funny thing is, she bite on it and spit it out, then ask the chef; what is the dish about.. priceless expression.. yeap, i was standing there, enjoying my 2nd temaki.. :)

Assorted sushi's and california rolls...

Not to miss - ginger bread house! Since Christmas is coming, there's assorted of cookies & pastries for us to try.. for me, nothing to shout here.. basically the same everywhere i think.

Four Seasons Dumplings from Tai Zi Heen -
Each represents each season. Can you guess which color goes to which season?

White - The normal version
Green - Green Tea flavoured (excellent - love the green tea taste on the skin with fresh filling inside. )
Orange - Pumpkin - very mild pumpkin taste
Black - Squid-inked with Gold dust particles. The chef told me gold dust is good for our human body... really?

AND THE BEST DISH THAT NIGHT (drums) ...

Crispy Prawns ; an award winning dish (M-IGF 2007) from Tai Zi Heen - So good, a must try. Simple and delicious. Crispy & crunchy. Lightly tossed with mayonese and sesame, with natural sweetness and the firm meat of the prawns. Confirm fresh!

and of course, the temaki as well!

Prince Hotel is having promotions of 30% discount for Tai Zi Hee and Enju from 10-11-08 to 31-12-08 for lunch and dinner.[ More info ]

Tai Zi Heen, the Malaysia International Gourmet Festival award

Food Guide Launch @ Nikko Hotel KL

On a fine day of last week of october, we were invited by Alice to her book launch at Executive Lounge, Hotel Nikko KL.

Not Just a Good Food Guide by Alice Yong
Dubbed the 'walking food guide' amongst friends and acquaintances, hunting for the best food in town has always been Alice Yong's favourite past-time. Join Alice as she shares on the best, most affordable and chic eateries all across the Klang Valley."

Alice gave a short talk on how she managed to compiled all the places. Took around 1 year to compile the locations and everything! Inside the book, it also clearly written how to get to the place through public transportations and other essential info like credit card, budget, washrooms availability and so on..

Mostly food veterans/writers & media PRs attended the event. Have opportunities met many "food veterans" and writers there. Thanks to Laura who introduced me the writers there and the history behind them . She said they are the "first generation food writers" while the bloggers nowadays are like the young chilli padi. Hehe...

As for the book, what I really like is the short introduction of local cuisine in KL. Not only for your tourist friends, but informative & entertaining for us as locals as well! Like do you know the origins of Nasi Lemak?

Since I have an extra, I will be giving out a copy of "Not Just a Good Food Guide" worth RM45. Details end of the post.

Then Alice's time pose with her book. And we snap.

Apart from the book, great desserts were served in the lounge too.

Beautiful. Which one you looking at?

Gyoza. Not bad.

Great lamb kebab. Strong lamb taste. I like.

And plus, as we are in executive lounge, you can get free flow of alcoholic drinks, vodka wines whisky beer ..you name it...You can also walk to the balcony outdoor as well..Great view! But if you drunk.. better dont la, quite dangerous as warned by the waiter there.

Complimentary gift of chocolate from cocoa boutique after the event ended.
